Greetings and Happy New Year. It also happens to be Black History Month so theres that as well. Plenty to be grateful for. 2020 has been pretty illuminating already. I cleaned up my eating and I’ve been way more consistent with my spiritual practice. Meditation makes a difference, man.
My friend had a gender reveal/ birthday party at Ra Sushi. My first time there and I definitely have to go back for a full dinner. My look reflected a classy lady of the night in a Blaxploitation film. I think it’s the coat, lol. Funny enough, I found this coat while shopping at Sam’s. Some of the gems be where you least expect it.
Hey, hey! I hit up the Saint Jhn concert in Atlanta recently. I was excited for the show because Saint Jhn’s music is dope. His tone, the vibes, and the general aesthetic is fire. He has 2 compilations on Apple Music. I recommend you check them out. If you take a listen, drop me a comment about what you think.
I was overall happy with the show, but something was definitely amiss during the performance because you could see it on Jhn’s face. My guess is that something was off with the sound. After the first verse of a lot of the songs, he would cut the music to do an a cappella thing. Idk about that, but regardless, it was still a fun show because the songs go hard. Atlanta was the second stop of the tour, so if Saint Jhn is in your city, swing through. I fucks with it.
And as you can see, I switched up my look. Hey girl! The blonde is gone and these bundles have arrived, lol. I rocked long straight hair for a decent amount of my life, so I miss it sometimes. The weather was letting me live my best style life too so I was not mad. Let me know if you’re digging the look in the comments.
Angela Yee, 1/3 of the Breakfast Club, had a live show of her podcast “Lip Service” in Atlanta last Wednesday night. It was at the Buckhead Theatre. I had never actually heard Lip Service but I was excited to experience a live Podcast. The crowd was relatively small but it was still cool. The special guests were Trouble, YFN Luchi, and Tokyo Jets. I loved how candid the discussions were. They talked about sex, relationships, cheating, monogamy, and all kinds of other foolishness. It was fun, low key, and intimate. I think the overall conversation about relationships and sex and just real shit is definitely beneficial to the collective, whether people end up agreeing or not.
Now I’m thinking about seeing The Friend Zone live in Atlanta (bc that’s my show).
Yal ever been to a live Podcast? How was it?
Peace and blessings,
Hey! I was at the A3C Afrobashment show at the Tabernacle. I’m a big fan of Afrobeats at this point so I was pretty excited to check out a good show. Initially, this show had: Afro B, Mr Eazi, Koffee, Tiwa Savage, and Burna Boy. As it got closer to the show date, Tiwa and Burna Boy were removed from the lineup. How? I was super dissapointed, but I still went out to see Mr. Eazi, Afro B, & Koffee. I tell you one thing, Afrobeats music is the truth. So “feed-good”, so swaggy, just everything. And Koffee and her band were super talented.
Did anybody else check out this show or see these artists recently? Thoughts? Who’s your favorite Afrobeats artist? I’m really digging Burna Boy, Wizkid, & Juls right now.
Anyway, this is what I wore. Pants from H&M, a (quintessential Atlanta) men’s sequins t-shirt that says “The Plug”, and creepers for good measure. It is spooky season, right?
Shawty had a birthday this summer 👏🏽
Shout out to all the wonderful Cancer’s out there. Enjoying good food and emoting like nobody’s business 😊. I love us.
I used to live by Grant Park but I never made it over to Agave, so I went there for my birthday dinner. Margarita please. Earlier that day I had a nice full body massage and the next day I went out with some friends & family.
If you’re a Cancer, happy belated birthday to you. 💋
Peep the vibe:
Dress: Papaya; Shoes: GoJane.com
I was having a real yellow moment when I visited Porsche Experience Center in Atlanta a couple weeks ago for a networking event. Hair, skin tone, dress, bag….all of it.
So naturally I became curious about the psychology and meaning of the color yellow. This is the quick version of what I found:
Yellow: Uplifting, happy, fun, hopeful, practical thinker, networker, the mind, intellect.
Whew chile, the alignment.
How is life? I feel like I’ve been going through it but I’m still moving in the right direction so all is good. Focusing on gratitude, right?
When things get really chaotic or stressful, it’s important to check in with yourself and put that self-care/self-love on 100. Taking time to be mindful, breathing deeply, eating healthier, disengaging from interactions that don’t bring joy into my life, laughing…all of those things are so crucial for me.
What do you all do as self-care when things get tough?
Part of my self-care included going to an art show at Octane Saturday night with the homies. Mama needs her time too. 20 local artists showcased work. I love seeing art and being a part of an art community. Plus Bar Taco was next door….ya girl was plantained up and so happy. Had a mini photo shoot on the streets too. Tis life. I am not mad.
Vintage plaid blazer, leopard pants, a graphic tank, and creepers on my feet. Style.
