I’m not sure what it is about this outfit…maybe it’s the skirt, maybe it’s the hat, but I just feel like this embodies a midwest vibe. Maybe I just called myself country, I don’t know, lol. But I like it.
Shout out to all of St. Louis.
I just finished up my first year of classes for my clinical psychology program and it’s going really well. It’s been a wild ride already and it’s a lot of work. But I’m really growing.
Even though I’m still sheltering in place at home, I needed to get cute and be creative. I figure if I have a couple weeks without classes, I may as well use it to have some fun and feel good. And I love creating outfits and taking pictures so it’s a win.
I’m also on TikTok now *inserts Megan thee Stallion “ehh”*, so please find me on there so we can connect.

I’m back with another outfit of the day, quarantine edition. My family is doing a Spirit Week at the crib, so this was “Backwards Day.” My kids loved the whole idea of wearing their clothes backwards and they did so the entire day, lol. I wore my shirt backwards and ended up really liking the look. Might have to keep that in mind for future looks.
Interesting thing is, my entire outfit is from Walmart. This whole look probably cost me $20. I say that to say, you don’t have to have a lot of money to look good or stylish. You just have to have an vision for an outfit. And an eye for quality fabrics, especially when you’re at second hand stores (which are my favorites). I was completely comfortable in this outfit while in classes remotely and while being an active mom. Walmart had more pants in this style with different designs. They cost an entire $7. I know physical distancing is in place, but if you find yourself at Walmart, peruse the clothing section for these pants. SO cute & comfortable.
And also, Walmart been the lick for statement tee’s. If you don’t know, now you know. Look in the men’s section.
“Out here” meaning “in the house” of course, lol.
Sometimes Easter goes by and I don’t really trip off it. It feels more like a general holiday. It embodies a certain time of the year where everything is coming alive and it’s warming up, so that’s cool. You get to dress up and look cute plus the food that day is usually hella delicious. But Easter felt much more personal this year. The story of Jesus: his life, his death, the resurrection. The timing is impeccable. I feel like as a collective, we’re all going through some form of death and rebirth right now. Our reality has never looked like it does right now and people are adjusting. It was the death of life as we had known it and now it’s something new. It’s interesting.
So to celebrate, I got Easter baskets for my kids, we did an Easter egg hunt inside the house, and I got my kiddos all dressed up for virtual church. I found a company called Bailey’s Blossoms that sells “mommy and me” clothes. Since my daughter is still so young, I thought it would be cute if we wore matching black and white printed dresses. Langston’s outfit is a mix of Target, Carter’s, and Osh Kosh. Since I love photography, I took pictures of us outside the house and they turned out really good. I’ve shared some of them below.
This was me at the house a couple of weeks ago. I had these swishy pants that I found at a thrfit store a while back and this color blocking organza top. They’re among many statement pieces that I buy and then figure out what to do with later. This extended time at home seemed like a great time to build some new fun outfits.
Getting dressed and styling myself is like a tiny therapy session. I get to express. Plus Josie was being cute so I snapped a few pictures in her room after her nap.
I hope you all are doing well. If not, find a little bit of peace each day and hold onto it. Things will turn around.
Hey everyone! How are things? …it’s been a lot, right? I’ve been mostly focused on being a mom and a graduate student right now. And trust me, that is plenty. Overflow. When I first found out that my graduate program was transitioning to online learning, I really thought I was gonna show up to classes (on Zoom) in my “house clothes.” Nah playa. The devil is a lie. See I like to dress. I like to style clothes. AKA my closet is my playground.
So as long as I’m home based, I’m gonna get up and get dressed for the day and so will my kids. We gon be comfy but cute. Pajamas all day was fun for a little while but nah. We off that.
Then we can feel good and look good when we go on walks around the neighborhood. How are you and your family settling in at home?
I’m here for all of the fun, love, and cool shit that’s been showing up on social media. (The memes have been taking me out 😂 . I just find it interesting that we’re having virtual parties now. I was at DJ D-Nice’s Homeschool party yesterday with apparently 100k other people feeling like a whole cool kid. 💁🏽 Wow. The times.
Even though we’re physically distant, people have really been getting creative with new resources and access online like never before. If you find something cool to do online, send it my way. Gimme dat.
Im taking this time of isolation to reevaluate things in my life, to prioritize things that nurture me, to practice better self care, and to continue to connect with self and God.
Find your fucking peace. I’m trying my best but to be honest, mugs are trying me. It be the ones. And also, send me all the funny tings and resources. Thanks. | 😘
I’ll be sharing a list soon of the resources that I have found to be helpful in some way.
P.S. 2020 is really out here, ain’t it? 😳
What a time to be alive. I’m really over here wrapping my head around the fact that the world is where it is right now. COVID-19 came through and singlehandedly bodied 2020…and its only March. Many are isolating or self-quarantining and travel is restricted. No large groups. People can’t work. Schools closed. Grocery stores are strug. Black market hand sanitizer. This life is wild, yo. Im just pondering. And sending my love.
I’m really wondering if life will ever go back to the norm as we knew it before. Will these more contagious and aggressive viruses start popping up more often? Will the US government use their mishandling of this pandemic as an opportunity to learn, grow, and be more prepared for next time? I’m curious.
Times are stressful, so I’m trying to find the silver lining in all of this. It’s always there if you’re open to seeing it. Leaning on my faith. God is Dope.
Greetings and Happy New Year. It also happens to be Black History Month so theres that as well. Plenty to be grateful for. 2020 has been pretty illuminating already. I cleaned up my eating and I’ve been way more consistent with my spiritual practice. Meditation makes a difference, man.
My friend had a gender reveal/ birthday party at Ra Sushi. My first time there and I definitely have to go back for a full dinner. My look reflected a classy lady of the night in a Blaxploitation film. I think it’s the coat, lol. Funny enough, I found this coat while shopping at Sam’s. Some of the gems be where you least expect it.
Hey, hey! I hit up the Saint Jhn concert in Atlanta recently. I was excited for the show because Saint Jhn’s music is dope. His tone, the vibes, and the general aesthetic is fire. He has 2 compilations on Apple Music. I recommend you check them out. If you take a listen, drop me a comment about what you think.
I was overall happy with the show, but something was definitely amiss during the performance because you could see it on Jhn’s face. My guess is that something was off with the sound. After the first verse of a lot of the songs, he would cut the music to do an a cappella thing. Idk about that, but regardless, it was still a fun show because the songs go hard. Atlanta was the second stop of the tour, so if Saint Jhn is in your city, swing through. I fucks with it.
And as you can see, I switched up my look. Hey girl! The blonde is gone and these bundles have arrived, lol. I rocked long straight hair for a decent amount of my life, so I miss it sometimes. The weather was letting me live my best style life too so I was not mad. Let me know if you’re digging the look in the comments.
