OOTD: Midwest Shawty.

At Home, Lookbook, ootd

I’m not sure what it is about this outfit…maybe it’s the skirt, maybe it’s the hat, but I just feel like this embodies a midwest vibe. Maybe I just called myself country, I don’t know, lol. But I like it.

Shout out to all of St. Louis.

I just finished up my first year of classes for my clinical psychology program and it’s going really well. It’s been a wild ride already and it’s a lot of work. But I’m really growing.

Even though I’m still sheltering in place at home, I needed to get cute and be creative. I figure if I have a couple weeks without classes, I may as well use it to have some fun and feel good. And I love creating outfits and taking pictures so it’s a win.

I’m also on TikTok now *inserts Megan thee Stallion “ehh”*, so please find me on there so we can connect.

Toodles,
Leslie Anne

It’s Easter, and We Out Here.

Atlanta, family, Lifestyle, momlife, ootd

“Out here” meaning “in the house” of course, lol.

Sometimes Easter goes by and I don’t really trip off it. It feels more like a general holiday. It embodies a certain time of the year where everything is coming alive and it’s warming up, so that’s cool. You get to dress up and look cute plus the food that day is usually hella delicious. But Easter felt much more personal this year. The story of Jesus: his life, his death, the resurrection. The timing is impeccable. I feel like as a collective, we’re all going through some form of death and rebirth right now. Our reality has never looked like it does right now and people are adjusting. It was the death of life as we had known it and now it’s something new. It’s interesting.

So to celebrate, I got Easter baskets for my kids, we did an Easter egg hunt inside the house, and I got my kiddos all dressed up for virtual church. I found a company called Bailey’s Blossoms that sells “mommy and me” clothes. Since my daughter is still so young, I thought it would be cute if we wore matching black and white printed dresses. Langston’s outfit is a mix of Target, Carter’s, and Osh Kosh. Since I love photography, I took pictures of us outside the house and they turned out really good. I’ve shared some of them below.

OOTD: You Can Hear Me Coming.

At Home, family, Lookbook, ootd

Hey yal.

This was me at the house a couple of weeks ago. I had these swishy pants that I found at a thrfit store a while back and this color blocking organza top. They’re among many statement pieces that I buy and then figure out what to do with later. This extended time at home seemed like a great time to build some new fun outfits.

Getting dressed and styling myself is like a tiny therapy session. I get to express. Plus Josie was being cute so I snapped a few pictures in her room after her nap.

I hope you all are doing well. If not, find a little bit of peace each day and hold onto it. Things will turn around.

Peace.

OOTD: Warm Earth Tones

Lifestyle, ootd, Wellness

Hey everyone! How are things? …it’s been a lot, right? I’ve been mostly focused on being a mom and a graduate student right now. And trust me, that is plenty. Overflow. When I first found out that my graduate program was transitioning to online learning, I really thought I was gonna show up to classes (on Zoom) in my “house clothes.” Nah playa. The devil is a lie. See I like to dress. I like to style clothes. AKA my closet is my playground.

So as long as I’m home based, I’m gonna get up and get dressed for the day and so will my kids. We gon be comfy but cute. Pajamas all day was fun for a little while but nah. We off that.

Then we can feel good and look good when we go on walks around the neighborhood. How are you and your family settling in at home?

COVID-19/ God is Dope

ootd

What a time to be alive. I’m really over here wrapping my head around the fact that the world is where it is right now. COVID-19 came through and singlehandedly bodied 2020…and its only March. Many are isolating or self-quarantining and travel is restricted. No large groups. People can’t work. Schools closed. Grocery stores are strug. Black market hand sanitizer. This life is wild, yo. Im just pondering. And sending my love.

I’m really wondering if life will ever go back to the norm as we knew it before. Will these more contagious and aggressive viruses start popping up more often? Will the US government use their mishandling of this pandemic as an opportunity to learn, grow, and be more prepared for next time? I’m curious.

Times are stressful, so I’m trying to find the silver lining in all of this. It’s always there if you’re open to seeing it. Leaning on my faith. God is Dope.

Furry Coat Love.

Atlanta, Lifestyle, nightlife, ootd

Greetings and Happy New Year. It also happens to be Black History Month so theres that as well. Plenty to be grateful for. 2020 has been pretty illuminating already. I cleaned up my eating and I’ve been way more consistent with my spiritual practice. Meditation makes a difference, man.

My friend had a gender reveal/ birthday party at Ra Sushi. My first time there and I definitely have to go back for a full dinner. My look reflected a classy lady of the night in a Blaxploitation film. I think it’s the coat, lol. Funny enough, I found this coat while shopping at Sam’s. Some of the gems be where you least expect it.

Much love,

A Little Lip Service in Atlanta

Atlanta, Lifestyle, nightlife

Hey hey!

Angela Yee, 1/3 of the Breakfast Club, had a live show of her podcast “Lip Service” in Atlanta last Wednesday night. It was at the Buckhead Theatre. I had never actually heard Lip Service but I was excited to experience a live Podcast. The crowd was relatively small but it was still cool. The special guests were Trouble, YFN Luchi, and Tokyo Jets. I loved how candid the discussions were. They talked about sex, relationships, cheating, monogamy, and all kinds of other foolishness. It was fun, low key, and intimate. I think the overall conversation about relationships and sex and just real shit is definitely beneficial to the collective, whether people end up agreeing or not.

Now I’m thinking about seeing The Friend Zone live in Atlanta (bc that’s my show).

Yal ever been to a live Podcast? How was it?

Peace and blessings,

LA

AFROPUNK Atlanta 2019

Atlanta, Lifestyle, Music

AFROPUNK Atlanta 2019. Yowza.

I’m not even exaggerating when I say that this was by far the best AFROPUNK I’ve ever been too. Atlanta clowned. The people were BEAUTIFUL. Everyone. Not just some folks, but all. Vibes everywhere. I’m honestly still on cloud 9. I’m so in awe of how AFROPUNK leveled alllllll the way the fuck up this year. So many sponsorships and cool interactive art installations. The overall scale was just grander. It was beautiful.

Now for the tunes:

Lucky Daye. Anderson Paak. Smino. Masego. Mahalia. Brittany Howard. Fever 333.

Lucky Daye has been one of my favorites for a while and this was my first time seeing him in concert. His live show is amazing. I would have been satisfied if I went home after his set. But then I get to see Smino, a fellow STLien. And end the night with Anderson Paak who did a tribute to Mac Miller. Shawty is mad content. I am shawty.

I’m excited for how AFROPUNK Atlanta is evolving. If you were at the festival, drop me a comment! What was your favorite experience at AFROPUNK this year?

Peace,

Leslie Anne

Music: Afrobeats Concert @ the A3C Festival

Atlanta, Music, nightlife, ootd

Hey! I was at the A3C Afrobashment show at the Tabernacle. I’m a big fan of Afrobeats at this point so I was pretty excited to check out a good show. Initially, this show had: Afro B, Mr Eazi, Koffee, Tiwa Savage, and Burna Boy. As it got closer to the show date, Tiwa and Burna Boy were removed from the lineup. How? I was super dissapointed, but I still went out to see Mr. Eazi, Afro B, & Koffee. I tell you one thing, Afrobeats music is the truth. So “feed-good”, so swaggy, just everything. And Koffee and her band were super talented.

Did anybody else check out this show or see these artists recently? Thoughts? Who’s your favorite Afrobeats artist? I’m really digging Burna Boy, Wizkid, & Juls right now.

Anyway, this is what I wore. Pants from H&M, a (quintessential Atlanta) men’s sequins t-shirt that says “The Plug”, and creepers for good measure. It is spooky season, right?

Staycation with me.

Atlanta, nightlife

I celebrated 5 years in the marriage game last weekend. It honestly stuns me that I have been married for 5 years already. Life just keeps moving right along. Marriage is challenging at times but it’s also a lot of fun, especially when you’re raising a family together. Here’s to loving, listening, lots of fun, and continued personal growth.

Amanze (the hub) and I did a staycation at the W Atlanta- Midtown. The room was super cute. Then we ate at Chops Lobster Bar. Fiye. I had salmon and Amanze had a seafood trio….it was seriously delicious. Afterwards, we hit up Wiskey Mistress where they played early ’00’s tunes and oldies for not got-damn reason, but it was funny. The ambiance in that place is real cool though.

Where do yal like to go out in Atlanta?

Peace,

-Leslie
