Juneteenth 2020: Radical Honesty.

Atlanta, family, Lifestyle, mental health, momlife, Wellness

My Juneteenth celebration yesterday. Beauty, bellies, booties, & black women. My liberation came in the form of radical honesty. I sat in that pool yesterday and shed real tears and let it wash over me.

Often times as women and/or mothers, we try to keep it all together. We’ve been conditioned to. The concept of being a “strong black woman” can be very destructive and isolating. Not to mention, it takes mental energy and resources that can be better spent. I’m pledging to let it all go, practice compassion, and ask for the help that I need.

Open. Release. Shed. Love. Grow. Thankful for my tribe.

Celebrating self love. If you’re reading this, know that you are worthy and you are loved. You are beautiful and joy is your birthright.

Happy Juneteenth.

Take care,

Leslie Anne
