Staycation with me.

Atlanta, nightlife

I celebrated 5 years in the marriage game last weekend. It honestly stuns me that I have been married for 5 years already. Life just keeps moving right along. Marriage is challenging at times but it’s also a lot of fun, especially when you’re raising a family together. Here’s to loving, listening, lots of fun, and continued personal growth.

Amanze (the hub) and I did a staycation at the W Atlanta- Midtown. The room was super cute. Then we ate at Chops Lobster Bar. Fiye. I had salmon and Amanze had a seafood trio….it was seriously delicious. Afterwards, we hit up Wiskey Mistress where they played early ’00’s tunes and oldies for not got-damn reason, but it was funny. The ambiance in that place is real cool though.

Where do yal like to go out in Atlanta?

Peace,

Around Atlanta: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at the Fox

Art, Atlanta, Lifestyle, momlife, ootd

Ronald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was playing at the Fox Theatre. So the fam and I (minus little Josephine) went to see it. Yep, we took Langston on a mommy/daddy date, which never happens, and I’m happy we did.

Even before we went, I was excited for Langston to be introduced to the story and songs. I mean, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory is a straight classic. He loved the Oompa Loompas and all the singing and dancing. He was asking me hella questions the entire time. But there were definitely parts that confused and/or scared him (i.e. ripping that one girl apart and those black squirrels). Keep in mind, Langston just turned 3. He really enjoyed it overall though and so did I.

Sunday Funday.

Future Doctor in Forsyth Park

momlife, ootd, travel

Yesterday I found out that I was accepted into Mercer’s Doctor of Psychology program! I had been wait listed all summer and a spot just opened up, less than 2 weeks before classes start, and I was first on the list.🙌🏽 I literally jumped up and down when I got the news.

And to think, I had been applying for counseling jobs all summer and could not get an interview. I was still hoping that things would work out and some miracle would get me into this program tho.

In spite of my disappointments, I meditated on the fact that whatever is for me is already mine and things work out as they should. And I got in. God stay having my back.

Here is the final round of pictures from my Savannah trip. Rocking black on black in the beautiful Forsyth Park.

July 12th: A Cancer Woman.

Atlanta, Lifestyle, nightlife

Shawty had a birthday this summer 👏🏽

Shout out to all the wonderful Cancer’s out there. Enjoying good food and emoting like nobody’s business 😊. I love us.

I used to live by Grant Park but I never made it over to Agave, so I went there for my birthday dinner. Margarita please. Earlier that day I had a nice full body massage and the next day I went out with some friends & family.

If you’re a Cancer, happy belated birthday to you. 💋

Travel: Father’s Day in Kansas City.

momlife, travel

If it’s one thing about me that you can bet on, it’s that I’m always taking (and editing) pictures. The 8,000+ pictures currently on my iPhone are proof of that. So even when I’m not posting anything, my arsenal real strong.

I was in Kansas City for Father’s Day this year. We went to Fritz’s, where trains deliver your meal, club’d it in the Westport area, and took family photos of the next generation. #CousinSquad with their Nigerian names on the back.

For any of my KC readers, what are your recommendations for cool things to do in the city?

Peace. ❤️

House Party: Family Style.

Atlanta, momlife

Here’s a flashback to late May when me & Josie had a joint Luau party at the house. Celebrating her first birthday and my graduation from graduate school. ❤️

Josephine wore that cupcake out! I’m telling you. And if you’re wondering about her outfit, I found it on Amazon and it couldn’t have been cuter on her little body. It was probably $10.

Peace❤️

Unless God Sent You…

momlife, ootd, travel

Before I got out of Memphis, I grabbed some tasty Mexican food. It happened to be Cinco de Mayo and the weekend already had a celebratory mood, so margaritas it was.

Then we went over to Lorraine Motel to honor the life of MLK Jr. It’s important for me to show my kids the world and teach them about people and history from our eyes.

I rocked this plaid thrifted skirt, creepers, a flower crown, and a white tee. I walked into God is Dope a few weeks ago after brunch and got a few things. I used to drive by from time to time, so I felt like my visit was overdue. I snagged a couple unisex tees and a hoodie. It’s decorated super cute in there too.

This tee says “Unless God Sent You, I’m Unavailable.” And that’s exactly the kind of energy I’m trying to put out there. Blessings on blessings.

Visiting: Discovery Park of America

momlife, travel

Traveled to Tennessee earlier this month with my family for my graduation. I was finally graduating with my master’s degree and I was super happy. Still am.

Since we got in a day early I decided the Discovery Park of America, in Union City, TN, would be an amazing outing for the day. I love the more natural theme parks. It was really cool though and my kids were all into it. There are dinosaurs, an outdoor play area, a rock exhibit, Native American artifacts, classic automobiles, actual trains, and so much that we didn’t get to see. I would recommend it if you’re in that area.

Side note: Yes, I cut my hair and dyed it blonde. It just had to go so that was that. Simple.

What are some other family friendly parks or attractions that you would recommend in the States?

Winter in the Morning, Spring in the Afternoon.

Atlanta, ootd

Yea it’s technically Spring, but Winter is still out here trying to be seen at least a few hours out of the day. So the wardrobe is in transition. Atlanta weather right now is a little bit all over the place. But I suppose that’s always been the nature of early Spring. In the last week I’ve worn a coat, sandals, shorts, a sweater….and seriously needed rainboots. Went from turning on the heat one night to turning on the air a couple days later. This is foolishness.

Here’s an outfit I threw together last month. Layering, like I always do. Especially helpful when the weather is a little funny. Love this vintage plaid sweater and these adorable rose gold Nine West booties.

If you come across this post, drop me a comment letting me know what city you’re in. Is Atlanta the only place with weather that’s still flip flopping?
